The Department of Infrastructure Development under the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MoIT) successfully convened the 2nd Annual Engineering Coordination Meeting from April 17–18, 2025, in Paro.
The meeting brought together chief district engineers and municipal engineers from all 20 dzongkhags, chief engineer from Punakha Regional Office for Infrastructure Development, the chief engineers and senior officials from the Department, as well as relevant officials from the Department of Procurement and Properties and the Construction Quality Inspectors’ Office.
The primary objective of the meeting was to enhance coordination and collaboration between the dzongkhags and the central department. Key discussions focused on the governance framework for engineering agencies, working modalities, division of responsibilities, and clearly defined job descriptions.
Other major agenda items included raising awareness on the role and functions of the Construction Quality Squad/Inspectors’ Office, improvements for better infrastructure quality, strengthening of surveillance and monitoring mechanisms, and proposed revisions to the Procurement Rules and Regulations (PRR), among others.
The meeting was formally inaugurated by Dasho Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, who graced the occasion with his presence.
