The inauguration ceremony of Semtokha Roundabout was graced by His Excellency Zhabtog Lyonpo on June 04, 2022 coinciding with the birth anniversary of Her Majesty the Gyaltshuen. The contract for the construction of the roundabout was awarded to M/s Rigsar Construction Pvt Ltd. at the contract amount of Nu. 83.370 million at the beginning of July 2021. Despite numerous hindrances and challenges faced by the contractor due to lockdowns and other restrictions posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the contractor was able to finally complete all the works at the end of May 2022. The successful completion of the roundabout will greatly benefit citizens in Thimphu as well as those in Bhutan because it serves as the gateway to Thimphu and the NEWH.
